Foot Health Post Graduate Skills Development Certificate course

This course is for those students who have already completed the 5 Clinic Days Practical Training with the Stonebridge Foot Health School previously, and who wish to attain the level of Advanced Foot Health Practitioner. This course is also suited to those practitioners who are already practising, but wish to become more adept in biomechanics, NVA, diabetes and foot care and basic life support.

This is a one-week (5 Clinical Days) full time attendance course at the College’s dedicated Foot Health Centre.

Course content:

Lecture 1: Biomechanics 1: Implications, importance and assessment tools
Practical Session 1: Biomechanics patient diagnosis
Clinic Day Two
Lecture 2: Biomechanics 2: Implications, importance and assessment tools
Practical Session 2: Biomechanics patient diagnosis
Clinic Day Three
Lecture 3: Neurovascular assessment (NVA): Implications, importance and assessment tools
Practical Session 3: NVA patient diagnosis
Lecture 4: Diabetes and foot care: Implicatons, importance and assessment tools
Practical Session 4: Diabetes patient diagnosis
Clinic Day Four
Lecture 5:

Heartstart: Emergency Life Support training

  • General care of a casualty
  • Rescue breathing
  • Care of the unconscious person who is breathing
  • Performing CPR
  • Choking
  • Dealing with a suspected heart attack victim
Lecture 6:

Basic First Aid

  • Casualty care
  • Looking after the casualty
  • Treatment of minor bleeding and minor burns
  • Treatment of minor cuts, bruises, sprains and strains
Clinic Day Five
Lecture 7: The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH): Implications, importance and record keeping
Lecture 8: Review of the week: Assess what has been learnt. Direct further study. General discussion.
Award Ceremony with Principal

On completion of the Foot Health Post Graduate Skills Development course, you will receive two qualifications:

  • Qualification 1: Foot Health Post Graduate Skills Development Certificate
  • Qualification 2: Foot Health Practitioner Advanced Practical Diploma

On completion of this course you will earn 30 CPD points.

Emergency Life Support and Basic First Aid Certificate course

This course is for those students who wish to update their ELS and Basic First Aid certificate.

This is a one day (1 Clinical Day) full time attendance course at the College’s dedicated Foot Health Centre.

Course content:

Section 1: Heartstart: Emergency Life Support training

  • General care of a casualty
  • Rescue breathing
  • Care of the unconscious person who is breathing
  • Performing CPR
  • Choking
  • Dealing with a suspected heart attack victim

Section 2: Basic First Aid

  • Casualty care
  • Looking after the casualty
  • Treatment of minor bleeding and minor burns
  • Treatment of minor cuts, bruises, sprains and strains

On completion of the Emergency Life Support and Basic First Aid Certificate course, you will receive:

    Qualification 1: Heartstart Certificate

On completion of this course you will earn 10 CPD points.

Reflexology for Foot Care Specialists

A Distance Learning Course of 12 Lessons

Course Description

Reflexology is a complementary therapy involving the treatment of various disorders by applying pressure to certain points on the feet. Precise areas of the feet relate to particular parts of the body. The whole body can be treated via these points, which are called 'reflex areas'. Although hand reflexology is also done, this course concentrates on foot reflexology.

Treatment by the therapist involves applying pressure to the precise reflex point with the thumb or the fingers. In doing this, different sensations will be felt by the person receiving treatments. These feelings which the client experiences can then be interpreted by the therapist, as indicating which parts of the body are working well and which are not.
